Revolut Business Review for Irish Limited Companies (2026): Plans, Fees and Tax

Open your Revolut Business account here Illustration of coins, a hand receiving cash and a receipt representing bank accounts and money in Ireland

If you've just set up a limited company in Ireland, the first practical problem is a business bank account, and the traditional banks can take weeks. Revolut Business opens online, gives the company an Irish IBAN and is cheap if you pick the right plan. We look at it the way we look at our clients' companies: what it really costs at your volume of payments, who can actually open one (sole traders, read the second section), and the tax points that come up at year end. Prices and allowances are as published on Revolut's Irish pages on 29 October 2026.

IN SHORT
  • Revolut Business gives Irish companies an IE IBAN, with deposits covered to €100,000 by the Lithuanian scheme: open your account here.
  • Plans start at €10 a month (Basic); Grow is €35 a month or from €30 billed annually, Scale from €90, Enterprise is custom.
  • Revolut doesn't open Revolut Business for Irish sole traders: they're pointed to Revolut Pro, inside the personal app.

What Revolut Business is in Ireland

IN SHORT
  • Your company contracts with Revolut Bank UAB through its Irish branch in Dublin 1: a Lithuanian-licensed bank, with Irish conduct rules applied by the Central Bank.
  • Irish companies have had IE IBANs since mid-2023; the current account itself pays no interest.
  • The contract. Revolut's Business Terms for Ireland name Revolut Bank UAB acting via its Irish branch at 2 Dublin Landings (Revolut Business Terms).
  • Irish IBAN. Revolut announced IE IBANs for Irish corporate clients on 30 May 2023 and moved existing clients to the Irish branch over the following months, so your customers, Revenue and your payroll see an Irish account (Revolut).
  • Deposit cover. Company deposits are covered up to €100,000 per depositor by Lithuania's deposit insurance scheme, across all accounts with Revolut Bank UAB (Revolut). A company holding more than that should spread cash across banks.
  • Not an Irish-only product. A company registered elsewhere in the EEA can apply too, as long as it meets Revolut's residence and presence rules.

Sole trader? You'll be sent to Revolut Pro

IN SHORT
  • Revolut's own comparison page doesn't list Ireland among the countries where freelancers can open Revolut Business; Irish sole traders use Revolut Pro.
  • Pro sits inside the personal Revolut app, for self-employed people trading in their own name, and is priced by your personal plan, free on Standard.
  • Why it matters. A sole trader isn't a separate legal person, so for tax the business account is your money: profits go on your own Form 11, whichever account the income lands in (Revolut Pro vs Business).
  • How to get Pro. Open a personal Revolut account and switch on Pro in the app. If you don't have one yet, open your Revolut account at this link; our Revolut review for Ireland covers the personal plans.
  • Keep it separate anyway. Revenue doesn't require a sole trader to have a business account, but one account for business income and costs makes your Form 11 and any VAT returns much faster to prepare. Our Form 11 guide explains the return.

Revolut Business plans and fees

IN SHORT
  • The plans differ mainly in free transfers, the amount of currency exchanged at the interbank rate each month, and access to the API and expense tools.
  • Beyond the allowances it's €0.20 per local transfer, €5 per international transfer and 0.6% on exchange.

  • Over the allowance. €0.20 per local transfer and €5 per international transfer, 0.6% on exchange above the monthly amount, and 1% more on exchange outside market hours. Transfers to other Revolut accounts are free and unlimited (Revolut Grow fees).
  • Add-ons on Grow. The Expenses app is €8 and the Payroll app €3 per active team member a month; ATM withdrawals cost 2%.
  • Taking card payments. In person from 0.8% + €0.02 on EEA consumer cards and online from 1% + €0.20; payment links need a merchant account. Revolut sells its own card reader and the Revolut Terminal, €189 plus VAT (Revolut).
  • Prices change. Plan prices and allowances are on Revolut's Irish plans page; check it, and the fee schedule in the app, before you choose.

Worked example: what a small consultancy pays

IN SHORT
  • A one-person company making 30 local transfers, 3 international transfers and €5,000 of exchange a month pays about €53 a month on Basic and €35 on Grow.
  • The cheapest plan on paper isn't the cheapest once the allowances run out.
EXAMPLE

Starting data (assumptions): Aoife's IT consultancy is an Irish LTD with one director. Each month it pays 30 suppliers and staff by local transfer, sends 3 payments abroad and converts €5,000 into dollars, all on weekdays. Fees are as published on 29 October 2026; the Basic over-allowance fees are taken as the same as the published Grow ones.

Monthly costBasicGrow (monthly billing)
Plan€10€35
Local transfers over the allowance(30 − 10) × €0.20 = €4€0 (100 included)
International transfers3 × €5 = €15€0 (5 included)
Exchange over the allowance(€5,000 − €1,000) × 0.6% = €24€0 (€15,000 included)
Total a month€10 + €4 + €15 + €24 = €53€35
Total a year€53 × 12 = €636€35 × 12 = €420

Account fees are a business expense of the company, so they reduce its taxable profit. They don't change which plan is cheaper. At this volume Grow saves €216 a year before any annual-billing discount.

Opening a Revolut Business account in Ireland

IN SHORT
  • You need an active, incorporated company (CRO number), ID and a video selfie, proof of activity and address, and the directors and shareholders over 25%.
  • Revolut aims to review applications quickly; its Irish help pages allow up to 5 business days.
  1. Check eligibility. The company must be registered and physically present in a supported country, Ireland included, and fully incorporated. Charities, public sector bodies and cooperatives can't open one, and some industries aren't supported, such as gambling, crypto, debt collection and businesses holding client money (Revolut).
  2. Have the CRO details ready: registered name, legal form, address, trading name, registration date, status and company number (Revolut).
  3. Prepare the documents: certificate of incorporation, proof of business activity (a website, a contract, or an invoice with a bank statement), proof of the operating address, and the list of directors and shareholders over 25%.
  4. Apply online: open your Revolut Business account at this link.
  5. Give Revolut the company's tax reference once you have it, for the savings interest point below.

Tax points for your company account

IN SHORT
  • Company deposit interest is exempt from DIRT once the bank has the company's tax reference number; it's taxed in the company at 25% instead.
  • Revolut's invoicing tool is a convenience, not a VAT system: check every invoice carries what Revenue requires if you're VAT registered.
  • No DIRT for companies, with conditions. Revenue exempts deposits of companies that pay corporation tax, provided the company is entitled to the interest, is within the charge to corporation tax on it, and has given the deposit taker its tax reference number (Revenue manual 08-04-02).
  • 25%, not 12.5%. Deposit interest is passive income, taxed under Case III at the 25% corporation tax rate, not the 12.5% trading rate (Revenue manual 02-02-02). On €50,000 in business savings on Grow at 1.1%, that's €550 of interest and €137.50 of corporation tax.
  • The account is the company's, not yours. Money moved from the company account to your personal account is salary, a dividend, a director's loan or an expense repayment, and each has a different tax treatment on your side. Our salary after tax calculator shows what a director's salary nets.
  • VAT invoices. Revolut's invoices have fields for your VAT number and the supply date, but Revolut doesn't claim they meet Irish VAT invoice rules. If you're VAT registered, check the rate, the VAT amount and the customer details on each invoice, or invoice from your accounting software and use Revolut's integrations with Xero, QuickBooks, Sage and others.

Our verdict

IN SHORT
  • For a new Irish limited company that pays suppliers online and deals in more than one currency, Revolut Business is quick to open and, on the right plan, cheap.
  • Compare it with AIB, Bank of Ireland and the other digital options if you handle cash, need cheques or want the Irish deposit guarantee scheme.
