Cookie Policy
1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help the site function properly, remember your preferences, and — where you've agreed — understand how visitors use the site.
This Cookie Policy explains what cookies we use on irishtaxmate.ie, why, and how you can control them. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
2. The Cookies We Use
We group our cookies into three categories.
Strictly Necessary Cookies
These are required for the website to work and cannot be switched off. They're usually set in response to something you do — like filling in the "Get Started" form, opening our chat widget, moving through the "60-second check", or saving your cookie preferences. They don't store anything that identifies you personally beyond what's needed to keep the site working during your visit, and they don't require your consent.
Performance / Analytics Cookies
We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use our website — which pages are visited most, and how people move through the site — so we can improve it over time. This sets cookies including _ga (expires after 2 years), _ga_[container-id] (2 years), and _gid (24 hours). Information collected this way is aggregated and doesn't identify you individually. These cookies are only set with your consent.
Marketing / Targeting Cookies
We use Google Ads and Meta (Facebook/Instagram) advertising tools to measure whether our ads are working and to avoid showing you ads you've already seen. These set cookies including _gcl_au (Google, 90 days, links ad clicks to conversions) and, where Google Ads remarketing is active, the Google Marketing Platform IDE cookie (up to 13 months); and _fbp and _fbc (Meta, 90 days, used to measure ad performance and, where you've clicked a Meta ad, to connect that click to your visit). These cookies are only set with your consent, and are provided and controlled by Google and Meta respectively, subject to their own privacy policies.
3. Managing Your Preferences
When you first visit our website, you'll be asked to accept, reject, or customise non-essential cookies through our cookie banner. You can change your preference at any time using the Manage Cookies link in the footer of our website.
You can also control or delete cookies through your browser settings — most browsers let you see what cookies are stored and delete them individually or altogether. Blocking all cookies may mean some parts of our website, including forms and interactive tools, don't work properly.
4. Third-Party Cookies
Where we use third-party tools on our website (for example, tools that help us run our chat widget or measure site performance), those providers may set their own cookies, subject to their own privacy and cookie policies. We only enable third-party cookies that require consent after you've agreed to them through our cookie banner.
5. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time, for example if we add a new tool to our website that sets cookies. We'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when we do.
