When a return is required
Most PAYE employees never have to file. These are the situations where Revenue expects a return, or where filing one is the only way to claim what you are owed.
- You have income outside payroll: self-employment, freelance work or rent
- You sold shares, crypto or property, or received RSUs or foreign income
- You are a company director, or Revenue has asked you to file
- You arrived in or left Ireland during the year and need the year finalised
Three steps, all online
- STEP 1
Tell us about your year
Two minutes online: jobs, side income, rent, shares and any move in or out of Ireland.
- STEP 2
We prepare the return
We choose the right form, apply every credit and relief you qualify for and show you the figures before anything is filed.
- STEP 3
You approve, we file
We file through your Revenue account, tell you what to pay or what comes back, and handle any Revenue follow-up.
Start with the basics
- Your PPS number and access to Revenue myAccount or ROS
- Your employment details for the year (Revenue already holds most of these)
- Records of any other income: invoices, rent received, dividends, foreign pay
- Details of any shares, crypto or property sold during the year
- Receipts for reliefs you want to claim: medical, rent, pension contributions
Missed a year?
If you should have filed for an earlier year, it is better to file late than not at all. Tell us which years are open and we will put them in order, oldest first.
From €149, excl. VAT
The price depends on what goes on the return and is confirmed before we start. If the return creates a refund, it is paid by Revenue to your registered bank account.
Questions we get asked
Do I need to file a tax return in Ireland?
Not if all your income is from a job taxed through payroll. You need a return if you have income outside payroll, such as self-employment, rent above the PAYE limits, foreign income or gains on shares and crypto, or if you are a director or Revenue asks you to file.
What is the difference between Form 11 and Form 12?
Form 12 is the return for PAYE employees with small amounts of other income. Form 11 is the self-assessment return for the self-employed, directors and people with larger non-PAYE income. We tell you which one applies before we start.
When is the deadline?
For Form 11 it is 31 October of the year after the tax year, extended to mid-November when you file and pay through ROS. Form 12 can be filed at any time within the four-year time limit.
How much does it cost?
From €149 excluding VAT. The final price depends on what goes on the return and is confirmed before any work starts.
Can a tax return get me a refund?
Yes. Filing is often how unclaimed credits and reliefs, such as the Rent Tax Credit, medical expenses or remote working relief, are paid back. You can claim for up to four years back.
