When you need to deal with CGT
CGT applies when you sell, swap or give away an asset for more than it cost. These are the cases we see most.
- You sold shares, ETFs held outside an Irish fund wrapper, or vested RSUs
- You sold, swapped or spent crypto
- You sold a property that was not your main home
- You made losses you want to carry forward against future gains
Three steps, all online
- STEP 1
Send us the disposals
Broker or exchange statements are enough to start: what you sold, when, and what it cost.
- STEP 2
We calculate the gain
We match costs to sales, apply the right rate by date, the annual exemption and any losses, and show you the figures.
- STEP 3
Pay and file on time
We tell you exactly what to pay by each deadline and file the return through your Revenue account.
Start with the basics
- Your PPS number and access to Revenue myAccount or ROS
- Broker or exchange statements showing each sale and its date
- What you paid for each asset, including fees
- Any losses from earlier years you have not used
- For property: purchase and sale costs, and any periods you lived there
Two payment deadlines
Gains made from 1 January to 30 November are paid by 15 December. Gains made in December are paid by 31 January. The return itself is due by 31 October of the following year.
From €249, excl. VAT
The price depends on the number and type of disposals and is confirmed before we start. Losses we find can reduce this year's bill and future ones.
